• Provide strategic and high-level legal advice on administration and management matters • Advise on internal governance, institutional policies, and organizational compliance • Review, interpret, and develop personnel policies, procedures, and administrative frameworks • Identify, assess, and manage legal risks related to institutional operations, governance, and human resources • Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, memoranda, briefing notes, and other legal documents • Advise on staff appeals, disciplinary matters, workplace disputes, and employment-related issues • Review and draft legal documents, policies, guidelines, and internal governance instruments • Support investigations, dispute resolution, and conflict management • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate legal considerations into organizational decision-making and policy implementation • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and recommend actions • Prepare legal reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior management and governance bodies • Identify opportunities to strengthen institutional governance, legal compliance, policies, and processes • Perform other legal advisory and support functions assigned by the Head of Legal and Principal Legal Advisor • Work under the coordination and oversight of the Head of Legal Unit and Principal Legal Advisor
• Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Law • Admission to practice law in a national jurisdiction • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible legal experience • Significant practical and advisory experience in international administrative and employment law • Previous experience working in or advising an international or intergovernmental organization • Expert knowledge of international administrative jurisprudence • Practical experience with legal proceedings before international administrative tribunals or dispute resolution bodies • Professional fluency in written and spoken English • Additional language skills such as Arabic or French are an asset • Exceptional analytical, drafting, and communication skills • Ability to advise senior leadership and manage sensitive legal matters with discretion and sound judgment • Availability to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, when required • Ability to undertake duty travel to The Hague and other locations • Eligibility to travel to and enter the Netherlands without sponsorship or immigration support from ICMP • Responsibility for obtaining and maintaining required visas, permits, or travel authorizations • Applications must be submitted in English
• Fixed-term, part-time consultancy • Remuneration commensurate with experience and qualifications • Remote position • Duty travel to The Hague and other locations as required • Opportunity to provide strategic and high-level legal advice • Two-year consultancy roster duration envisaged (1 September 2026 to 1 September 2028)
