📋 Description

• Lead the engineering team in identifying and scoping well-defined tasks • Execute scoped work and remain accountable for timely, high-quality delivery • Design systems and make architectural decisions supporting rapid customer-base growth • Write application code robust to global datasets • Build and deploy microservices • Diagnose complex system behavior as global markets drive unexpected traffic • Facilitate continuous delivery at Mapbox • Mentor peers through 1:1s, design reviews, code reviews, and continuous guidance • Test and monitor systems and code • Write documentation and participate in on-call support for service health • Reduce technical debt • Share knowledge and invest in teammates’ health and happiness • Optimize application performance and accelerate feature velocity • Uphold collaboration, transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decision-making • Integrate AI thoughtfully into engineering design, development, and decision-making

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline • 8+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services • Proficiency with Python, NodeJS, and native AWS, including CDK, ECS, Step Functions, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and CloudFront • Familiarity with code versioning tools such as GitHub • Ability to independently perform development tasks based on designs and specifications • Empirical analytical approach, including developing hypotheses, conducting spikes, and communicating findings • Ability and willingness to share expertise through documentation, mentorship, pairing, and written and verbal discussion • Ability and willingness to work with and lead individuals with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences • High-quality mindset, including writing unit tests, proactively remedying defects, and following through to production • Proficiency in C++ is nice to have • Experience building mapping and geospatial products is nice to have • Legally authorized to work in Germany
