📋 Description

• Set and maintain a clear, consistent product design quality bar • Build review processes, critique rituals, design systems, and QA practices • Lower n8n’s learning curve for new users without reducing power for experienced builders • Shape product strategy and bring design into roadmap discussions • Lead n8n’s expansion toward a broader, less technical audience • Build relationships with Product, Engineering, and leadership • Lead a design organization of around 14 designers and support future hiring • Shape team structure, career frameworks, and progression paths • Create a culture of high standards and honest feedback • Own hiring and headcount planning • Establish a continuous UX research practice • Integrate customer insight, product data, and community feedback into product decisions • Connect research to activation, adoption, retention, and new-user onboarding • Champion AI adoption in prototyping, research synthesis, design QA, and workflow efficiency • Keep the design team current with evolving AI tools and product patterns

🎯 Requirements

• Managed managers, coached senior designers, and built design teams improving craft and business outcomes • Experience making difficult performance decisions • Led design for complex or developer-facing products requiring deep product understanding • Strong product design craft judgment and ability to uphold quality standards • Experience making design a co-equal partner in product strategy and decisions • Structured problem-solving in ambiguous environments • Understanding of AI, automation, or adjacent tooling and ability to create usable, trustworthy product experiences • Research literacy and ability to integrate research into product development • Data-informed decision-making using product analytics, research, and customer evidence • Experience with organizational design, career paths, performance management, and difficult performance conversations • Nice to have: open-source, fair-code, community-led, or builder-driven product experience • Nice to have: front-end or design engineering fluency • Nice to have: experience building remote-first design practices • Nice to have: activation, onboarding, templates, time-to-value, or product-led growth experience • English is the company language • Visa sponsorship available for Germany; existing right to work required for other countries
