📋 Description

• Lead and develop the Product Design team • Manage product designers, design engineers, and user researchers across seniority levels • Run regular 1:1s and coach team members • Own evidence-based performance reviews and provide honest feedback • Evolve the Product Design career progression framework • Hire excellent designers and broaden team backgrounds and perspectives • Set and maintain standards across problem framing, user understanding, interaction design, information architecture, and visual craft • Facilitate design critiques and reviews that improve the work • Develop designers’ judgment and autonomy • Maintain a holistic view of the product experience and address UX fragmentation • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on problem definition and product direction • Improve critique, collaboration, decision-making, and knowledge sharing processes • Report to the VP of Product until the Head of Design joins • Occasionally undertake exploratory or gap-filling design work outside squads • Participate in the hiring process, including candidate presentations, live critique, coaching, and reference checks

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years managing product designers in a product-led technology company • Managed a team of five or more • Proven experience with 1:1s, evidence-based performance reviews, difficult feedback conversations, and performance management • Built or improved a career progression framework for designers • Experience coaching and mentoring designers and running effective critiques • Strong design craft, taste, and judgment • Experience hiring designers • Hands-on use of AI tools and informed perspective on AI-enabled products • Nice to have: experience with B2B SaaS, developer tools, workflow automation, or similarly technical products • Nice to have: curiosity about APIs, webhooks, data structures, and workflow execution • Nice to have: experience designing for developers or technical operators • Nice to have: systems thinking, influence without authority, scaling teams, distributed teams, open source, and inclusive hiring • English is the company language • For countries other than Germany, existing right to work is required
