⢠Shape and evolve the core platform architecture powering n8n ⢠Create scalable, configurable foundations across execution, infrastructure, and frontend platform for cloud and self-hosted deployments ⢠Drive architecture across the two Core Platform teams ⢠Design adaptable backend foundations for varied workloads, deployment models, and future scale ⢠Partner with frontend platform teams on canvas architecture, real-time communication, performance, plugin contracts, and platform primitives ⢠Evolve durable workflow execution, orchestration, queues, task distribution, worker management, scheduling, and horizontal scaling ⢠Design for correctness and resilience across distributed environments, including failure modes, idempotency, state transitions, tenant isolation, and reliability guarantees ⢠Shape data and persistence architecture, including database scaling, sharding, migrations, deployment abstractions, and operational maintainability ⢠Lead technical decisions through proposals and RFCs ⢠Define stable platform interfaces and abstractions ⢠Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
⢠Track record of staff-level architectural ownership across multiple systems or teams ⢠Experience leading migrations, re-architectures, or foundational platform initiatives ⢠Deep systems thinking about invariants, correctness, failure modes, boundaries, and trade-offs ⢠Experience designing configurable, adaptable systems at scale ⢠Distributed systems experience involving asynchronous processing, idempotency, state machines, queues, consistency, and resilience ⢠Data architecture experience involving persistence, performance, isolation, migrations, and operational reliability ⢠Strong TypeScript experience ⢠Substantial backend systems experience with Node.js beyond conventional CRUD applications ⢠Cross-team technical leadership through RFCs, design reviews, mentorship, and technical judgment ⢠Experience defining platform contracts, abstractions, and developer experiences ⢠Experience with modularization, migrations, refactoring, and evolving existing systems ⢠Nice-to-have: workflow, orchestration, devtools, or infrastructure-heavy SaaS experience ⢠Nice-to-have: frontend platform architecture, durable execution patterns, multi-tenant architecture, open-source experience, large-scale SaaS, monolith-to-modular migrations, cloud and self-hosted deployments, observability, or strong computer science grounding ⢠Ability to work in English, the company language ⢠For countries other than Germany, existing right to work is required; Germany visa sponsorship is available
