📋 Description

• Design, build, and ship backend services and internal tooling supporting teams and customers • Own medium-to-large features end to end • Produce high-quality, performant, secure, and testable code • Develop across JVM, Elixir, Ruby, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Kafka, AWS/Lambda, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and related tooling • Influence architecture, engineering standards, and delivery decisions • Review pull requests, provide constructive feedback, pair with teammates, and support onboarding • Deploy user-facing and operator-facing code to production responsibly • Partner with product, engineering management, and stakeholders to clarify ambiguity and balance customer needs with technical constraints • Improve reliability and maintainability through metrics, incident learning, and stronger observability • Handle data in accordance with company policy

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience • Experience building production-ready web applications and backend systems with reliability and security in mind • Experience influencing technical direction, including architecture, standards, and delivery • Experience with Java, Kotlin, Elixir, Erlang, Ruby, JavaScript, Next.js, or another programming language • Readiness to work on JVM services using Java or Kotlin when assignments require it • Familiarity with IDEs, RESTful APIs, Git repositories, TypeScript, version control software, and remote deployment tools • Familiarity with event-based architectures, event streaming such as Kafka, database fundamentals, and GraphQL or comparable APIs • Comfort working with complex, contextual domain data and integrating with neighboring services • Preferred: production experience with JVM services and/or web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and React • Preferred: experience integrating LLMs or managed AI APIs into backend or internal tooling • Preferred: experience building microservices integrated with neighboring teams or shared platforms, including eCommerce or marketplace platforms • Preferred: experience with dashboards, monitoring, incident response, Python as production backend work, or a Bachelor of Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
