• Oversee approximately three Removal Defense Paralegals • Assign and monitor work, workloads, and case distribution • Review hearings, deadlines, casework, and task completion • Conduct regular case and task audits • Identify overdue, incomplete, or at-risk work and escalate significant issues • Train and support paralegals and answer procedural and workflow questions • Maintain a limited personal caseload of approximately 5–15 EOIR matters • Handle Master Calendar Hearing matters, Individual/Merits Hearing preparation, defensive asylum, withholding of removal, CAT, Cancellation of Removal, Adjustment of Status before EOIR, detained proceedings, bond matters, VAWA-related matters, motions, prosecutorial discretion requests, and BIA-related matters • Prepare forms, motions, declarations, exhibits, indexes, supporting documentation, and court filing packages for attorney review • Manage the department’s overall EOIR caseload and master hearing/deadline calendar • Track hearings, filing deadlines, attorney appearances, case developments, court orders, and scheduling updates • Establish internal preparation deadlines and monitor ECAS and EOIR case information • Oversee case opening, assignment, transfer, reassignment, onboarding, handoffs, and closing • Maintain templates, checklists, SOPs, filing procedures, and workflows • Ensure cases progress proactively and identify missing documents, evidence, client actions, and next steps • Support attorney hearing preparation, exhibit filing, declarations, evidence collection, case summaries, client preparation appointments, and strategy meetings • Communicate with clients on procedural requirements and case preparation • Monitor client document requests, follow-ups, reminders, communications, and escalated concerns • Ensure Lawmatics, Docketwise, Microsoft 365, and other firm systems accurately reflect case statuses, deadlines, tasks, notes, and documents • Track and report department KPIs including hearings, deadlines, overdue tasks, detained cases, workloads, audit results, filing accuracy, and productivity • Remain available for team support, urgent case matters, attorney requests, deadline issues, and time-sensitive needs until 5:00 PM Eastern Time
• Prior U.S. immigration paralegal experience • Substantial EOIR/removal defense experience • Strong knowledge of EOIR procedures and terminology • Experience preparing immigration court filings • Experience managing court deadlines and hearing calendars • Experience supporting attorneys in removal proceedings • Strong written and spoken English • Excellent attention to detail • Strong administrative and organizational abilities • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously • Ability to prioritize detained and urgent matters • Ability to work independently in a remote environment • Ability to supervise, train, and support other team members • Ability to hold team members accountable professionally • Strong client-service skills • Strong problem-solving skills • Ability to recognize problems and escalate them appropriately • Comfortable using technology in a fully remote environment • Strong general technology skills and ability to quickly learn new systems • Experience with or familiarity with Docketwise, Microsoft 365, Adobe/PDF document preparation, ECAS, EOIR Automated Case Information, and USCIS online systems preferred • Spanish proficiency is a plus but is not required • Reliable high-speed internet • Reliable computer equipment • Professional and quiet workspace • Ability to participate in video meetings • Excellent remote communication habits • Ability to work and remain available from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time • Resume and brief explanation of EOIR/removal defense experience required • Candidates without meaningful EOIR/removal defense experience may not be considered
• Full-time remote position • Flexible structuring of the latter portion of the workday • Two 30-minute breaks during the workday • Ability to generally log out from regular active work at 3:00 PM Eastern Time while remaining available until 5:00 PM Eastern Time • Reliable computer equipment and professional remote-work setup required/offered as work infrastructure
