• Develop and work with colleagues to create regional and country-specific marketing and media plans and ideas to reach audiences for various celebrity campaigns, video launches, investigations, news conferences, and news releases • Identify, contact, and develop professional relationships with appropriate media outlets and journalists for coverage of issues and campaigns • Maintain and update a media database • Prepare news releases and media statements and, if needed, have them translated and make follow-up calls to media outlets • Track and analyze the results of each media pitch and adjust efforts accordingly • Develop and execute strategies to help the organization’s web content reach targeted audiences • Help generate content for the organization’s digital assets, including website articles, online advocacy and pledges, and social media platforms • Create and distribute e-mail content to the organization’s members and supporters • Act as a spokesperson and give interviews when required • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
• Thorough commitment to and extensive knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills and written and oral skills in English • Some knowledge of or experience with media relations preferred • Extensive experience managing social media pages with proven success in fostering engagement • Excellent research skills • A sense of urgency and an ability to take initiative and follow through • Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team • Must be vegan • Supportive position with respect to PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate for the group’s positions on issues in a professional manner
