📋 Description

• Architect, upgrade, design, and build scalable infrastructure solutions using Kubernetes, AWS, RDS (MySQL/Postgres), and modern distributed patterns • Help drive the infrastructure team’s roadmap toward greater reliability, recoverability, and scalability • Drive capacity planning and benchmarking; stress test systems, identify bottlenecks, and prepare for business growth • Define, maintain, and enforce SLAs and infrastructure alerts • Lead teams toward stronger anomaly detection signals and more flexible alerting • Lead Sezzle’s AI enablement efforts by applying AI and automation to infrastructure reliability, developer productivity, and internal tooling • Build consistency and scalability across a distributed microservices architecture while maintaining performance and reliability • Establish and evolve engineering best practices for observability, security, and CI/CD • Mentor engineers and champion learning, innovation, and operational excellence • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and deliver results

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering or infrastructure engineering experience, including significant SRE and backend experience • Deployed significant changes to a production application or infrastructure configuration in the past 30 days • Strong proficiency in Golang • Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs • Expertise with SQL-based RDBMS, including MySQL and PostgreSQL • Experience optimizing schemas and queries for performance at scale • Proficiency with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic • Understanding of distributed systems design patterns, including transactional outbox, event-driven architecture, stream processing, and queues • Ability to bring new ideas forward, influence decisions, and lead complex technical initiatives • Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • Must be available to work consistently from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST • Preferred: AWS cloud infrastructure, AWS Aurora RDS, data engineering, data pipelines, data warehousing, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes containerized microservices, AI developer tooling, commercial APIs, data-driven applications, technical leadership, and scaling high-traffic services
