📋 Description

• Lead the planning, design, and optimization activities for mining projects from design through production • Manage PEA, PFS, and FS technical studies, production schedules, ventilation, and operational improvements • Provide mentoring, supervise contractors, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards • Support resource-to-reserve conversion, project economics, and stakeholder engagement • Develop and evaluate open-pit mine plans and underground mine designs as a mining engineering consultant • Apply innovative methodologies to conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and operational mining projects • Prepare and author technical reports, including acting as a Qualified Person (QP) where applicable • Establish, maintain, and strengthen client relationships • Conduct technical and economic evaluations of underground and open-pit mining projects • Participate in project budgeting, cash flow analyses, net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR) assessments • Design and optimize short- and long-term open-pit mine plans • Prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports and presentations • Travel to client sites in Canada and internationally for short-term assignments as required • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, metallurgists, geotechnical engineers, and environmental specialists • Support business development activities, proposals, and client engagement initiatives • Provide training in mine planning, mine evaluation, mine reclamation planning, mining operations management, mine environmental management, and equipment selection • Assume responsibility, as required, for special projects, strategic initiatives, or other ad hoc assignments

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related engineering discipline, such as civil, mechanical, process engineering, or an equivalent field • Minimum of 15 years of technical experience in the mining industry • More than 10 years of experience in project evaluation, budgeting, and cost estimation from project initiation through completion • Demonstrated leadership and management experience with multidisciplinary teams • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills • Additional language proficiency, such as French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic, may be required depending on the position and project location • Strong understanding of mining operations, mine planning, project development, and economic evaluation • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Working knowledge of AutoCAD • Proficiency in one or more mining software packages, such as GEOVIA GEMS, Sculpte, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, or Micromine • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a dynamic professional consulting environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and report preparation • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding project schedules • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely, accurately, and efficiently • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary • Availability to travel periodically to SGS offices, client sites, and project sites in Canada and internationally • Commitment to fully comply with SGS health and safety policies, the Code of Integrity, and professional conduct standards • Candidates applying for Canadian job postings must be authorized to work in Canada
