📋 Description

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python • Build scalable solutions for ingesting, processing and transforming large datasets • Work with Microsoft Azure, including containerized workloads, batch processing, PostgreSQL and event-driven architectures • Contribute to cloud-native architecture, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code • Work with Databricks and modern data processing approaches • Collaborate with engineers on system design, data modelling and platform improvements • Improve software quality through code reviews, automated testing and mentoring less experienced developers • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, accelerate problem solving and support coding, testing and technical analysis • Build and evolve a proprietary data platform that helps identify vulnerabilities and proactively reduce cyber risk for a leading UK-based insurance company

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Python development, with a strong focus on backend engineering • Strong experience building backend applications and REST APIs • Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines • Experience building data-intensive applications, data pipelines or solutions processing large datasets • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and clean code principles • Experience with Databricks or other modern data platforms • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing and distributed systems • Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Azure Container Apps or Batch Processing • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, e.g. Terraform • Experience with Azure DevOps and deployment automation • Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools
