📋 Description

• Own major Android features end to end, working closely with the design team through release • Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features • Review pull requests and provide developmental feedback • Unblock engineers by investigating persistent issues • Identify reusable implementations and drive team-wide adoption • Maintain tested, clear, and consolidated shared components • Lead changes to team processes and ways of working • Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases • Address recurring problems by changing underlying systems • Expand automated verification and shift testing earlier in development • Run planning focused on unresolved decisions • Define review requirements and approval points • Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA • Support early-career engineers with learning-oriented work and development time

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on • Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work • Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them • Experience introducing a practice or system that remained adopted after implementation • Comfort asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction • Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not, based on system behavior • Track record of building things used by the broader team • Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents • Product design intuition and user empathy • Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification • Excellent communication skills • Links to a portfolio and LinkedIn included with application • Open source Android projects, or experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS are bonuses, not requirements
