📋 Description

• Own major features end to end, from decision through release, working closely with Design • Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features • Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback • Unblock engineers and resolve technical obstacles • Standardize successful implementations for team-wide use • Maintain tested, clear, consolidated shared components • Drive improvements to team processes • Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases • Address recurring problems by changing underlying systems • Expand automated verification and shift testing earlier in development • Run planning and prioritize work requiring decisions • Define appropriate review levels and sign-off requirements • Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA • Support early-career engineers with learning opportunities • Participate in technical interviews and real-codebase assessment

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on • Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work • Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them • Experience introducing improvements that persist after implementation • Comfort asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction • Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not • Track record of building things used by the wider team • Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents • Product design intuition and user empathy • Excellent communication skills • Building, maintaining, or contributing to open source Android projects (bonus) • Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (bonus) • Must provide portfolio and LinkedIn links when applying
