📋 Description

• Own major Android features end to end with the design team, from decision through release • Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features • Write code, review pull requests, and provide developmental feedback • Unblock engineers and investigate technical impediments • Standardize successful implementations for team-wide use • Maintain tested, clear, and consolidated shared components • Drive changes to team processes and working practices • Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases • Address recurring problems by improving underlying systems • Shift verification left through automated checks • Run planning and prioritize work requiring decisions • Define review requirements and sign-off responsibilities • Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly QA builds • Support early-career engineers with learning-oriented work and development time

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on • Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work • Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them • Something you introduced to a team that stuck after you stopped pushing it, and an honest account of what it cost to get there • Some comfort with asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction • A view on which changes need heavy review and which don't, argued from what the system does • A track record of building things the rest of your team actually used • Ability to describe how your team works with AI agents • Product design intuition, user empathy, and drive to push Android UI/UX beyond the specification • Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification • Excellent communication skills • Portfolio and LinkedIn links included with application • Several technical interviews plus an assessment on a real codebase • Open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS experience are bonuses
