📋 Description

• Own major Android product features end to end from decision through release, working closely with Design • Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features • Write code, review pull requests, and provide developmental feedback • Unblock engineers and resolve team impediments hands-on • Standardize successful implementations for team-wide use • Maintain tested, clear, and consolidated shared components • Drive changes to team processes and working methods • Reduce manual intervention required for correct releases • Address recurring problems by improving underlying systems • Expand automated verification and shift testing earlier in development • Run planning focused on unresolved decisions • Define review requirements and sign-off responsibilities • Participate in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions and raise team constraints early • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA • Support early-career engineers with learning-focused work and development time

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on • Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work • Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them • Experience introducing a practice or change that remained after implementation • Comfort asking people to change how they work and managing resulting friction • Ability to determine which changes need heavy review and which do not • Track record of building things the rest of the team actually used • Ability to describe how the team works with AI agents • Product design intuition, user empathy, and drive to improve Android UI/UX • Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the specification • Excellent communication skills • Open source Android experience is a bonus • Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS is a bonus • Several technical interviews plus an assessment on a real codebase • Portfolio and LinkedIn links requested with application
