📋 Description

• Design, build, and scale core platform infrastructure handling high-volume web traffic at the CDN and edge computing layer • Lead architecture design, technical planning, and authoring of long-term design documents • Plan and execute gradual, methodical rollouts by defining target audiences, KPIs, and success metrics before shipping changes • Debug complex front-end behavior across browsers, devices, and geographies • Collaborate with data engineering to ensure testability at scale and build measurement and observability frameworks • Solve high-complexity technical problems involving significant scope and ambiguity • Mentor engineers and serve as a technical escalation point for complex platform challenges • Stay current with web performance technologies, edge computing patterns, and browser optimization techniques • Integrate AI coding tools into the engineering workflow

🎯 Requirements

• 10 years of software engineering experience with a strong background in building and scaling high-traffic, multi-tenant web platforms • Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python • Demonstrated experience designing and operating distributed, high-availability systems at meaningful scale • Cloud platform experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure • Experience with CDN infrastructure and web performance optimization, including Cloudflare, Lighthouse, WebPageTest, web workers, lazy loading, and code splitting • Infrastructure as Code experience with Pulumi or equivalent • Strong SQL and data querying skills; ability to work with data warehouses • Experience with message queues such as SQS or Kinesis and CI/CD pipelines • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redshift, or equivalent data storage • Strong problem-solving skills and detail orientation • Active use of AI engineering tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex • Strong English communication skills for technical discussions and asynchronous written collaboration • Availability to work full Eastern Standard Time hours • Legal authorization to work as an independent contractor in the country where located • Preferred: Cloudflare Workers or edge computing experience • Preferred: E-commerce platform experience with Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar • Preferred: Snowflake or data warehouse query optimization experience • Preferred: Media or high-traffic publishing platform background • Preferred: Experience running or leading a multi-brand or multi-tenant web platform • Preferred: Prior startup experience with significant platform ownership • Preferred: Agile/Scrum experience in a distributed team environment
