📋 Description

• Support day-to-day operations of the Medical Coding Department • Provide operational support to Coding Managers without direct supervisory responsibility • Coordinate workflows according to operational priorities • Monitor coding work queues and assign or redistribute workloads as directed • Escalate issues affecting productivity or turnaround times • Answer routine coding, workflow, and operational questions • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to coding staff • Reinforce departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards • Assist with monitoring productivity, quality, and turnaround-time metrics • Support employee development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and education • Escalate performance concerns, workflow barriers, and compliance issues to Coding Managers • Assist with departmental education and training • Support compliance with coding, payer, Medicare, Medicaid, and organizational guidelines • Support projects, workflow improvements, system implementations, and process optimization • Stay current with coding regulations, payer requirements, CMS guidance, and industry best practices • Maintain PHI confidentiality under HIPAA

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive medical coding experience • Previous experience as a senior coder, lead coder, trainer, mentor, or similar role preferred • Current coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CIC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA preferred • Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems • Thorough understanding of CMS regulations, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI), Official Coding Guidelines, and payer-specific requirements • Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and coding software • Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
