Thomann. io is the technology and product development arm of Thomann GmbH, building and operating the company's international web shop and mobile app for musical instruments, audio, and event equipment. The team develops backend and frontend systems (PHP, Twig, React, React Native), infrastructure (Google Cloud/GKE and on-prem datacenter), and data warehousing, while practicing agile, remote-first product teams focused on scaling eCommerce, analyzing customer data, and improving the shopping ecosystem for creators and performers worldwide.

📋 Description

• Work cross-functionally to refine the customer journey across the order lifecycle • Integrate and optimize local payment methods for international markets • Tackle complex shipping logic and logistics scenarios • Increase observability of mission-critical applications to identify and resolve issues proactively • Build and maintain internal APIs • Integrate external APIs with the wider Thomann ecosystem • Own business-critical features and address technical debt • Collaborate with Software Engineers, Quality Engineer, Product Owner, Engineering Manager, Product Designer and Product Analyst • Develop new features and technical concepts, fix bugs, write tests and share knowledge through code reviews

🎯 Requirements

• At least 4 years of current work experience as a Software Engineer • Deep understanding of PHP and common frameworks, such as Symfony • Familiarity with OOP concepts, common design patterns and complex database structures • Experience navigating and improving complex legacy code bases while considering business requirements and restrictions • Experience managing code and dependencies with Git and Composer • Commitment to code quality secured by automated tests • Willingness to participate in code reviews • English required for daily work • German is a plus; English speakers willing to learn German will be supported • Must be based in Germany; the company cannot provide visa sponsorship or hire outside Germany
