📋 Description

• Lead the Accounts team across backend, Flutter mobile, and Angular web • Set technical direction and hold the team accountable for delivery • Define and maintain the interface with the core ledger, including guarantees, service consumption, data ownership, and schemas • Own account opening, account management, and account switching (CASS), including regulatory compliance • Own the member-facing transaction experience, including timeline, transaction details, counterparty information, transaction history, statements, and exports • Set technical direction for read-heavy, data-rich services, including performance, pagination, search at scale, data consistency, and long-term architecture • Own system stability and operational reliability, including SLOs, observability, and on-call practice • Partner with product, design, compliance, and operations to deliver accurate, supportable, and compliant products across markets • Grow engineers across backend, mobile, and web • Partner with teams building on the Accounts platform, including investment and savings accounts • Align with Engineering Managers across Banking on shared platform and infrastructure decisions

🎯 Requirements

• Meaningful engineering management experience leading teams through real delivery • Experience leading product-driven teams and accountability for customer outcomes • Solid backend engineering foundation before moving into management • Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across time zones • Proven experience aligning with senior leadership on deliveries and managing dependencies with neighboring teams • Strong grasp of distributed systems, data consistency, reliability patterns, SLOs, SLAs, and observability tooling • Technical fluency in reading code, following architecture, and engaging with design decisions and production problems • Backend engineering experience in a strongly typed language; Java experience is not required • Experience with microservices in a cloud-native environment • Experience designing and operating APIs and data services for mobile and web clients • Experience with latency, pagination, caching, and backwards compatibility • Relational database engineering, including data modelling and query performance for large, read-heavy transaction histories • Event-driven and asynchronous systems experience • Familiarity with mobile and web delivery, such as Flutter and Angular or similar • Exposure to agentic or AI-integrated systems and engineering practices • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders • Ability to develop engineers at every level
