📋 Description

• Lead the Accounts team across backend, Flutter mobile, and Angular web • Set technical direction and own delivery and reliability • Define and maintain the interface with the core ledger, including guarantees, data ownership, and schemas • Own account opening, account management, and account switching (CASS) • Ensure regulatory compliance for account-related services • Own the member-facing transaction experience, including timeline, transaction details, counterparty information, history, statements, and exports • Set technical direction for performance, pagination, search at scale, ledger consistency, and long-term architecture • Own SLOs, observability, on-call practice, system stability, and operational reliability • Partner with product, design, compliance, and operations across all markets • Grow engineers across backend, mobile, and web • Partner with teams building investment and savings accounts on the Accounts platform • Align with Banking engineering managers on shared platform and infrastructure decisions

🎯 Requirements

• Meaningful engineering management experience leading teams through real delivery • Experience leading product-driven teams and accountability for customer outcomes • Solid backend engineering foundation before moving into management • Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across time zones • Proven experience aligning with senior leadership and managing dependencies with neighbouring teams • Strong grasp of distributed systems, data consistency, reliability patterns, SLOs, SLAs, and observability tooling • Technical fluency to read code, follow architecture, and engage with design decisions and production problems • Backend engineering experience in a strongly-typed language; Java experience is not required • Experience with microservices in a cloud-native environment • Experience designing and operating APIs and data services for mobile and web clients • Experience with latency, pagination, caching, and backwards compatibility • Relational database engineering, data modelling, and query performance for large read-heavy transaction histories • Event-driven and asynchronous systems experience • Familiarity with mobile and web delivery, such as Flutter and Angular • Exposure to agentic or AI-integrated systems and engineering practices • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders • Ability to develop engineers at every level
