📋 Description

• Lead the App team responsible for customer-facing data APIs, Analytics products, and customer reporting • Manage and grow a team of six engineers: 3 backend, 2 frontend, and 1 QA • Partner daily with two Product Managers, a Designer, and a UX Researcher • Spend approximately 20–30% of time on architecture, code reviews, and coding • Own public enterprise APIs and the microservices behind them • Own the Analytics section of the Uberall platform, including frontend, filtering, and custom-report APIs • Own QuickSight reports and gold-layer datasets for customer reporting • Deploy and operate services on Kubernetes and AWS • Own observability, SLOs, and the team’s on-call rotation; lead incident management • Handle hiring, team growth, 1:1s, delivery, and engineering culture • Establish the App team as a healthy, autonomous unit • Co-own migration of data pipelines from the monolith into the Data Engineering stack • Drive backend modernization and migration toward Kotlin from legacy Groovy and Scala services • Shape AI-assisted Analytics insights and expose data/APIs for AI-agent consumption

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience • Deep backend expertise on the JVM; Kotlin strongly preferred • Experience with Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Postgres • 2+ years leading an engineering team with genuine people responsibility, including hiring, 1:1s, performance, and delivery, while staying hands-on • Experience designing, operating, and evolving production microservices • Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, observability, SLOs, and incident management • Experience running an on-call rotation • Strong SQL and analytical data modeling skills • Experience with RESTful, service-oriented architectures serving external customers at scale • Frontend fluency with React and TypeScript • Experience navigating legacy systems and migrations • Professional working English (read, write, speak) • Comfort collaborating across a remote, distributed organization • Nice to have: experience with Groovy, Scala, Python, Amazon QuickSight or similar BI tooling, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, LLM-powered product features, or exposing data/APIs to AI agents
