📋 Description

• Lead technical discovery for new engagements, migrations, and major projects • Run structured sessions with technical, marketing, and operations stakeholders • Translate ambiguous business needs into scoped functional and technical requirements • Document out-of-scope items and the reasons for exclusion • Decompose requirements into epics and developer-ready stories with the Product Owner • Maintain traceable requirements records covering features, functions, metafields, and apps • Work with Tech Leads to document architecture, data flows, business rules, feasibility, and scope • Build and maintain discovery frameworks and templates • Recommend tools based on client needs and explain the reasoning to clients, engineering, and account teams • Maintain awareness of portfolio implementations and existing stack decisions • Evaluate third-party tools across loyalty, search, reviews, personalization, subscriptions, and headless commerce • Track Shopify platform updates, deprecations, and roadmap signals and translate them into client guidance • Advise on stack composition for maintainability, scalability, and cost • Map client environments across ERPs, PIMs, OMS platforms, CRM systems, and marketing stacks • Identify integration requirements, data flows, and failure points • Audit Shopify implementations for technical debt, architectural gaps, and unused platform capabilities • Evaluate AI features in ecommerce tools and identify opportunities to improve conversion, retention, or operational efficiency • Use AI for drafting specifications, scripting audits, analyzing rulesets, reconciling data, and roughing out wireframes • Work as a peer to Growth Strategists to ensure roadmap items are deliverable • Contribute technical context to scoping and estimation • Align engineering, design, and account teams around requirements and surface conflicts early

🎯 Requirements

• A track record of picking the right tool for a specific client context and defending the choice to clients and engineers • Working familiarity with Shopify Plus across admin, metafields, theme architecture, and B2B • Understanding of headless and composable architectures, including when they are inappropriate • Comfort acknowledging gaps in tool knowledge and finding subject-matter experts • Track record of leading discovery on complex digital projects • Documentation habits that withstand deadlines • Ability to run stakeholder sessions that surface actual requirements • Experience writing requirements engineering can execute with minimal ambiguity • Ability to break requirements down to developer-ready granularity • Experience managing requirements for several clients without context bleeding • Exposure to migrations from Magento, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus • Working comfort with Figma or FigJam, Jira, and Excel • Experience evaluating AI features inside tools merchants already use • Comfort with rapid change and updating positions based on evidence • Confidence in client-facing environments and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Ability to propose compromises acceptable to clients, engineers, and account teams within the SOW • Strong written communication • No educational credential explicitly required
