• Provide functional leadership to project managers and senior project managers • Support and oversee large, multinational, national, global, and complex clinical projects or programs • Direct project delivery across multiple divisions within cost, time, and quality requirements • Supervise, support, train, mentor, and conduct performance appraisals and salary reviews for project management staff • Lead business-process development and improvement initiatives across functional teams • Communicate with sponsors to obtain direction and feedback on scope and performance • Liaise with Business Development and Bids/Contracts for client presentations and proposal development • Assist with resource utilization, policy development, and implementation of goals • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead core and extended project teams • Coordinate across internal and external units, including subcontractors • Define project resource needs and establish contingency plans • Design, implement, track, and revise project plans • Promote teamwork and resolve conflicts • Communicate project matters to senior management • Meet financial performance targets for assigned clinical projects and programs • Ensure project deliverables meet Worldwide Clinical Trials and client expectations • Improve efficiency and quality of work on assigned projects • Serve as a key client contact when assigned • Build relationships with client project teams and vendors to ensure satisfaction and operational excellence • Ensure staff follow professional standards and SOPs for clinical research • Perform other duties assigned by management
• University/college degree (life science preferred) or certification in a related allied health profession from an appropriately accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical pharmaceutical industry experience including demonstrated skills and competency in clinical project management tasks • Alternatively, more than five (5) years supervisory experience in a health care setting and eight (8) years clinical research experience in the pharmaceutical or CRO industries • Demonstrated track record of success in clinical development and leading and developing professional staff in a project-led environment • Proven experience developing and managing business-segment budgets and resources • Experience using project management software • Experience conducting global clinical trials • Availability for domestic and international travel, including overnight stays • Valid passport • Ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license • Fluent in the local office language and English, both written and verbal • Broad knowledge of the drug development process and client needs • Strong leadership, financial acumen, judgment, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, negotiation, marketing, and relationship-building skills • Expert knowledge of project management principles and application • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, resource management, regulatory guidelines and directives, medical therapeutic areas, medical terminology, and multicultural service organizations • Skills in process improvement, particularly in clinical trials, clinical development, and project management • Computer skills
