• Provide nursing care from initial patient contact until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility • Assess, triage, and treat critically ill or injured patients for safe transport • Maintain thorough patient care documentation • Participate in ongoing laboratory, clinical, aviation, safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and continuing education training • Use and routinely maintain aircraft medical equipment and supplies; report failures and initiate repairs • Maintain adequate onboard supplies and keep aircraft clean and orderly • Attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings and complete required documentation • Assist with liftoff checklists and support pilots with radio, navigation, and visual observation activities • Conduct aircraft safety briefings and comply with safety standards • Serve as a flight resource to neonatal/pediatric personnel and perform approved advanced procedures • Participate in patient/referring institution follow-up and outreach marketing and education • Precept and orient new employees and students as assigned • Participate in meetings, activities, projects, committees, research, and publishing opportunities • Be scheduled for at least two 24-hour shifts per week at CBS bases where currently licensed
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing • Minimum three years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last five years, or as required by state/local EMS regulations • One year of full-time flight experience required • Current RN license(s) for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations • Nurse compact license preferred • EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations • Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent, and TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider certifications as required • Specialty certification required: CFRN, CCRN, or CEN • Advanced trauma course certification required: TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC, or CAMTS-approved advanced trauma course • Current NRP certification • NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat • Weight not to exceed 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots • Nursing and advanced practice skills within assigned state scope of practice and Medical Director standards • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Ability to work flexible schedules including 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotation • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, multitasking, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills • Ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
