Beschreibung

• Design, implement, and own core components of Ditto’s networking and transport stack • Work across overlay networking, routing, virtual connections, channel lifecycle, and physical transports/protocols including BLE, LAN, Wi-Fi Aware, and AWDL • Re-architect the networking stack toward a modular, scalable, high-performance design • Establish clear interfaces and ownership boundaries between transport layers and mesh abstractions • Debug and improve connectivity issues involving data transfer reliability, MTU negotiation, pairing instability, throughput ceilings, and cross-platform synchronization • Build and optimize transport mechanisms for flow control, backpressure, congestion handling, retries, connection lifecycle management, and failure recovery • Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks in latency, memory footprint, CPU utilization, and tail behavior • Design protocol state machines, wire formats, and transport abstractions for unreliable networks and constrained environments • Establish observability through logging, metrics, and diagnostics for production debugging and root-cause analysis • Contribute to Ditto’s mission of enabling resilient, real-time applications through peer-to-peer synchronization at the edge • Collaborate in a distributed, asynchronous team environment

🎯 Anforderungen

• 5+ years of professional experience building systems software, with at least 3 years focused on networking, transport protocols, or routing • Strong proficiency in Rust or C++ • Knowledge of ownership and borrowing semantics, async runtimes, concurrency primitives, and profiling/optimization techniques • Understanding of TCP, UDP, and QUIC semantics and tradeoffs, including connection establishment, congestion and flow control, retransmission behavior, MTU/fragmentation, latency, throughput, and reliability • Exposure to or experience working with networked services and protocols • Ability to debug complex behavior in networked and concurrent systems, including race conditions, deadlocks, resource leaks, and latency spikes • Experience designing modular APIs and abstractions that scale across multiple implementations and evolve safely over time • Clear written and verbal communication skills in a distributed, asynchronous team environment • Passion for learning new networking technologies, APIs, and approaches • Nice to have: experience with mesh networking protocols, routing algorithms, or gossip protocols • Nice to have: understanding of mobile platform constraints, background execution models, battery optimization, and OS suspension/resume cycles • Nice to have: experience with Apple Core Bluetooth or Android WiFi Aware APIs • Nice to have: experience with Linux networking, sockets, async I/O, or low-level systems programming • Nice to have: willingness to travel once per quarter for in-person team gatherings • Required work authorization question concerns working in the United States
