• Act as the technical authority and source of assurance for fleet and equipment maintenance matters • Ensure fleet safety, compliance, standards, performance, and efficiency • Conduct skills gap analysis and create training plans for fleet employees • Create SOPs and method statements for maintenance activities • Establish change control methodology and an audit regime • Lead incident investigations and implement learnings • Monitor industry and vehicle technology developments • Validate and adjust the devolved fleet structure • Implement governance structures for regional fleet teams • Foster collaboration, resilience, and best-practice sharing across regional teams • Conduct talent reviews and succession planning • Coach and mentor regional fleet managers • Review and challenge fleet delivery, financial, and safety performance • Lead continuous improvement programmes using lean principles or similar • Identify opportunities to internalise outsourced maintenance • Lead specification of new vehicles • Lead the EV strategy, including vehicles and charging infrastructure • Lead innovations supporting business development • Lead the telematics strategy • Manage fleet allocation and business-wide cascades • Ensure fleet administration, paperwork, and systems remain up to date • Support finance with fleet strategy and procurement planning
• Extensive technical and mechanical expertise, e.g. vans, HGVs, and PSVs • Professional engineering or fleet-related qualifications, or equivalent experience • Proven experience in senior engineering or technical leadership roles • Strong capability in data analysis, performance management, and engineering risk assessment • In-depth knowledge of fleet compliance, safety legislation, and regulatory standards • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and a proven track record • Excellent problem-solving skills • Analytical skills • Strong leadership and communication skills
