📋 Description

• Complete Performance Reviews and 1:1s for reports. • Collect feedback and translate it into constructive input for reports. • Manage, coach and mentor reports, supporting development and career progression. • Represent the engineering team in discussions about team structure, wellbeing, and professional development. • Lead a cross-functional squad, setting clear goals and creating accountability. • Facilitate retrospectives and squad check-ins. • Collaborate with engineering managers and discipline leads to ensure consistent practices and squad alignment. • Identify gaps in engineering knowledge and steer training as required. • Keep up to date with WordPress engineering best practices and emerging technologies. • Balance technical oversight, people management, and strategic team leadership while actively contributing to client projects.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience and broad understanding of technologies used by Human Made, e.g. WordPress, React, APIs, software architecture etc. • Proven experience of leading a team of engineers, ideally in an agency environment. • Excellent communication, team building and organisational skills. • Experienced and capable of identifying an individual’s areas for improvement. • Skilled at assessing feedback, and turning it into clear, actionable development plans for individuals. • Confident in addressing interpersonal issues. • Experienced in a remote working environment. • A growth mindset with a passion for helping engineers succeed in their careers. • Fluent in written and spoken English, at CEFR C1 level or equivalent.
