• Lead the delivery of mid-size, increasingly complex design operations projects and programmes • Manage core design operations processes and activity across the business area • Drive development of design operations and experience design strategies and deliver associated strategic initiatives • Drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI capabilities across the design organisation • Create scalable AI guidance, governance, documentation, standards, and best practices • Balance team needs, business goals, and operational constraints to enable successful project and programme delivery • Act as an escalation point, remove blockers, and approve design operations deliverables within defined authority • Partner with Design Leadership to integrate AI-enabled workflows, build capability, support cultural change, and enable value from emerging technologies • Enable collaboration across design disciplines and functions and engage stakeholders to align strategic initiatives • Create, evolve, and promote design operations guidelines and standards • Make data-informed process, project, and programme-level design operations decisions • Manage stakeholder expectations, risks, conflicts, and alignment issues, escalating as necessary • Communicate the value and impact of design operations decisions to varied audiences • Improve team culture, design processes, tooling, and operations workflows using structured thinking and a systems-level perspective • Support capability through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and community engagement • Translate AI experimentation, pilot programmes, and emerging capabilities into scalable guidance and best practices • Identify opportunities for responsible AI use in design operations • Oversee teams to achieve project goals
• Experience defining and leading design operations processes, projects and programmes at pace using agile delivery methods • Experience delivering mid-sized, increasingly complex initiatives that support design teams at scale • Track record of driving structured, scalable, and collaborative operational improvements informed by team and business needs • Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners • Demonstrated leadership capabilities • Strong stakeholder management skills • Ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, articulate the rationale behind work, and advocate for the value and impact of design • Deep understanding of user-centred design • Comprehensive knowledge of how design operations supports high-performing, inclusive, and strategically aligned design practices • Good knowledge of embedding accessibility and inclusion into design practices • Strong design thinking, operations and process management, planning and delivery, and data analysis skills • Experience supporting design operations capability development through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback • Experience leading capability development and organisational change initiatives • Experience supporting teams to adopt new tools, processes, and technologies through coaching, enablement, and continuous improvement
