📋 Description

• Author original, technically rigorous free-response mechanical engineering problems • Ground questions in realistic professional and industrial scenarios • Develop problems requiring advanced multi-step reasoning, practical constraints, assumptions, trade-offs, and engineering judgment • Develop scenarios involving mechanical design, engineering analysis, or R&D workflows • Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles, calculations, modelling approaches, physical assumptions, and design considerations • Review technical content for accuracy, realism, and internal consistency • Write complete expert-level solutions documenting calculations, assumptions, reasoning, methodology, technical decisions, and trade-offs • Ensure solutions are rigorous, reproducible, independently verifiable, and technically deep • Test authored problems against multiple frontier language models • Evaluate AI systems for correct solutions, reasoning errors, calculation failures, and incomplete technical approaches • Refine questions to maintain an appropriately demanding difficulty level • Validate that problems meaningfully test advanced mechanical engineering reasoning

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering required • At least 8 years of hands-on professional or industry experience • Substantial experience in mechanical design, engineering analysis, R&D, or a combination • Strong command of advanced mechanical engineering principles • Experience solving complex technical problems in professional engineering environments • Ability to translate real-world engineering challenges into structured technical questions • Excellent analytical reasoning and technical writing skills • Strong attention to assumptions, calculations, and engineering validity • Research and academic expertise complemented by hands-on engineering practice • Experience within a major industrial, aerospace, automotive, energy, manufacturing, technology, or engineering organisation is nice to have • Background leading complex mechanical engineering projects is nice to have • Advanced experience in product development, simulation, analysis, or engineering R&D is nice to have • Experience authoring engineering assessments, technical problems, training materials, or technical documentation is nice to have • Strong record of solving open-ended engineering problems requiring professional judgment is nice to have • Familiarity with AI models or structured technical evaluation is nice to have
