• Partner closely with two CSAA attorneys supporting the Folsom, California law office • Assist in the defense of insureds involved in litigation, primarily personal injury defense matters • Review legal files and initially draft discovery responses, trial documents, jury instructions, motions, and other pleadings • Calculate statutory deadlines and complete assignments in compliance with them • Conduct legal research using electronic resources and law libraries on civil procedure and personal injury issues • Conduct insured client interviews for discovery purposes • Assist attorneys with evidence preparation • Work with retained experts to prepare for trials, arbitrations, and mediations • Summarize plaintiffs' written discovery responses and follow up on subpoenas • Maintain compliance with mandatory continuing legal education rules • Travel as needed for divisional/team meetings and other in-person meetings and events
• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience • Paralegal certification per California Business & Professions Code Sections 6450–6456 or as required by statute in other applicable states • Complete and remain current with paralegal continuing education requirements • Strong PC skills • Knowledge of legal software applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe • Strong writing skills to compose legal documents • Ability to handle and respond to sensitive and confidential information • Strong analytical, verbal communication, and organizational skills • Understanding of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures • Understanding of legal and professional ethics • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a litigation team • 3–5 years of previous paralegal experience • Knowledge of iManage and TeamConnect • Notary license listed as an additional qualification • Ability to travel as needed for the role • Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the United States • CSAA does not provide visa sponsorship; applicants must not require immigration support now or in the future
