📋 Description

• Provide medical and technical oversight of the clinical laboratory • Perform or delegate clinical consultant, technical supervisor, general supervisor, and testing personnel duties while ensuring proper performance • Ensure clinical laboratory duties, educational programs, strategic planning, and research and development meet laboratory needs • Remain accessible for on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation • Ensure testing systems provide quality services across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases • Ensure appropriate laboratory conditions, safe working environments, and test methodology capabilities • Ensure validation and verification before implementing new tests • Interface with product development to incorporate laboratory regulations and operational needs into test development • Ensure personnel perform test methods accurately and reliably • Establish and maintain quality control, quality assurance, and analytical performance programs • Ensure patient results are reported only when systems function properly, with deviations documented and remediated • Ensure test reports contain information required for interpretation • Provide consultation to clients regarding test-result quality and interpretation • Support Abbott’s Quality Management System and company mission and values

🎯 Requirements

• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic degree with license to practice medicine or osteopathy, or doctoral degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution • Certification by a Health and Human Services-approved board at time of hire and maintained throughout employment, or qualifying pre-February 24, 2003 laboratory-director experience • Alternative qualification for persons qualified under applicable State law on or before February 28, 1992 • 10+ years of experience in a clinical diagnostics laboratory • For the grandfathered laboratory-director pathway: 2+ years of laboratory training or experience, and 2+ years directing or supervising high-complexity testing • Demonstrated ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation • Current authorization to work in the country where the work is performed • Must be able to work without employer sponsorship or takeover of employment-visa sponsorship • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day • Ability to use a mobile device, tablet, or computer and type for approximately 80% of a typical working day • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
