• Review clinical genetic testing data and test reports • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure remedial actions are taken • Review scientific literature and interpret genetic variants • Write, edit, and sign out clinical genetic test reports • Curate gene panels using comprehensive literature-supported gene lists • Coordinate and lead process improvement projects focused on cost savings, efficiency, and productivity • Serve as an exception handler and expert resource for complex cases • Participate in test methodology selection and improve systems, processes, and procedures • Develop and coach colleagues • Promote communication, collaboration, employee development, teamwork, and conflict resolution • Communicate with employees, customers, healthcare providers, and vendors, including representing Abbott at conferences • Maintain laboratory compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and professional, federal, state, and local regulations • Uphold Abbott’s mission and values and maintain regular, reliable attendance
• Doctoral Degree in a Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory science from an accredited institution, with required certification • Certification by the American Board of Bioanalytics (ABB) as a High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD), or by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG), Molecular Genetics, or Cytogenetics, or by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) • Alternatively, Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree with 3+ years in a clinical lab with director oversight, certified in anatomical or clinical pathology, or both, by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology • Experience performing high complexity genetic testing • 4+ years of post-certification experience reviewing and signing out clinical test reports, or 7+ years of total experience reviewing and signing out clinical test reports or equivalent • Current New York state Certificate of Qualification in appropriate areas of oversight as necessary, or ability to obtain within 6 months • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship • Ability to manage confidential information • Ability to communicate cross-functionally and establish effective working relationships • Ability to work designated schedules, including nights and/or weekends as needed • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or computer and type for approximately 90% of a typical working day • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time • Compliance with company SOPs, quality management policies, and applicable regulations
