• Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns and gain calls to action to close sales calls • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements • Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency for key customers • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical topics, and sales • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales manager teams • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
• Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required • Proactively identifies customer style and behavior and adapts selling approach • Ability to develop sales strategies using findings • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment • Ability to influence others and serve as a credible role model and resource • Collaborative partnership with district colleagues and matrix teams • Documented leadership and support success at district, regional, and/or organizational levels • Valid driver’s license • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements • Ability to travel adequately to cover territory, attend overnight training events, and sales meetings • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment • Proven sales performance within respective therapeutic areas preferred • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred • English language proficiency verbally and in writing • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain required credentials
