📋 Description

• Gain experience in impact litigation and other legal advocacy tools on immigrants’ rights issues • Work closely with attorneys developing and litigating cases across various jurisdictions • Draft memoranda, affidavits, and briefs • Conduct legal and policy research • Research prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims • Research and draft public education materials • Track and analyze legislative bills

🎯 Requirements

• Currently matriculated legal student • Enrolled at a U.S. law school and completed required school coursework before the internship commences • Must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship • Lawfully authorized to work to receive the stipend • Excellent research skills, including internet and legal database research • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • Initiative to see projects through to completion • Commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice • Commitment to advancing the ACLU mission • Commitment to equity, inclusion, belonging, diversity, and multiple perspectives • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and conflicts

🏖️ Benefits

• Stipend amount of $24/hour (stipends are taxed) • Partial stipend available for students receiving outside funding, bringing total funding up to the ACLU’s stipend amount • Remote or hybrid work arrangement • Full-time internship, 35 hours per week, for 10 consecutive weeks • Reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities
