📋 Description

• Conduct research and writing projects relating to litigation in state courts, with a focus on state supreme courts • Assist with civil rights and civil liberties litigation and research in state courts across the country • Draft memoranda, motions, and portions of briefs • Conduct legal and factual research concerning issues and cases in state courts around the country • Track cases and issues of interest to the State Supreme Court Initiative • Work with ACLU affiliates and other partners on state constitutional litigation strategies

🎯 Requirements

• Currently matriculated legal student • Must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship • Enrolled at a U.S. law school • Will have completed at least one year of law school before the internship commences • Excellent research skills, including internet searches, Westlaw, PACER, and other law-related databases • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including in-person and teleconferencing communication • Attention to detail, organization, time management, and adherence to deadlines • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • Commitment to advancing the mission of the ACLU • Commitment to equity, inclusion, belonging, diversity, collaborative work, and respectful conflict resolution • Lawful authorization to work for stipend eligibility
