Advanced Energy Systems - Colorado School of Mines & NLR is an interdisciplinary graduate engineering program created through a partnership between the Colorado School of Mines and the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR). The program educates and trains master’s and doctoral researchers to address the technical, economic, and environmental challenges of modern energy infrastructure, emphasizing secure, resilient, and adaptive systems. Students collaborate with faculty and NLR researchers, use shared state-of-the-art facilities, work with industry, government, and nonprofit partners, and prepare for careers solving large-scale energy-system problems.

📋 Description

• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance research projects • Developing innovative AI/LLM solutions to addressing emerging power system needs • Contributing and/or leading the writing of research papers • Conduct research work independently

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. • Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution. • Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. • Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution. • Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. • Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution. • Applicants are responsible for uploading official or unofficial school transcripts • A letter of recommendation will be required as part of the hiring process if selected. • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date. • Completed an undergraduate degree and either be enrolled in or recently graduated from a master's degree in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, or related fields. • Experienced in natural language learning, large language models, foundation models, transformer models. • Good fundamental knowledge of neural networks and state-of-the-art learning algorithms. • Strong in Python programming and other comparable programming languages. • Self-motivated and passionate to learn new things.
