📋 Description

• Join AECOM's U.S. West Rockies Environmental Planning and Permitting team as an experienced on-call paleontologist • Perform paleontological fieldwork and field monitoring throughout the Western U.S. • Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus- or species-level • Direct field recovery of fossil specimens • Prepare strong, concise technical reports • Conduct research and manage project data • Travel safely to job sites and conduct fieldwork • Collaborate with crew members, supervisors, and clients • Work independently with minimal supervision on project-based assignments

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in paleontology or related field such as geology or biology • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education focused on paleontological fieldwork and technical reports • Paleontological fieldwork experience in the Western U.S. • Ability to provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus- or species-level • Expertise in field monitoring operations • Strong, concise writing, research, and data management skills • Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork throughout the Western U.S. • Ability to walk/trek over uneven terrain and long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods • Valid U.S. driver's license required • U.S. Citizenship required • Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Paleontology or related field • Preferred: 6+ years of relevant paleontology experience • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations • Knowledge of regional geology of the Western U.S. • Ability to direct field recovery of fossil specimens • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to read topographic, geological, and project maps • Ability to work cooperatively with crew members, supervisors, and clients
