📋 Description

• Prepare and document cost estimates and execution plans for construction projects • Compute cost estimates for raw materials, purchased or leased equipment, subcontracted work, and labor during bid tendering • Participate in MEP, Civil, and Architectural subcontract-package design reviews with client stakeholders • Create sketches, drawings, and specifications; analyze blueprints and other documentation • Perform value engineering and participate in constructability reviews during preconstruction • Produce detailed cost budgets for successfully bid projects • Collect and maintain a historical cost database for estimating new work • Oversee successfully bid projects under construction to learn field-operation methods and actual costs • Execute quantity takeoffs and unit pricing using estimating software • Obtain pricing from vendors and suppliers • Solicit scopes of work and quotations from subcontractors • Maintain material pricing information in the estimating database • Develop mastery of construction means and methods and their effect on project cost • Participate in turnover meetings with Project Management on successful bids • Conduct site visits for more complex tenders when required • Manage tender closings, including document review, proposal compilation, and closing meetings • Address addendums, change orders, and related matters • Perform other duties assigned by the manager

🎯 Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of training • Minimum 5–8 years of experience within estimating and working on medium or large-sized construction projects of medium to high complexity • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Project, Autodesk (AutoCAD), Bluebeam, P6, InEight (Hard Dollar), or similar estimating software • Strong knowledge of project controls, including costs and scheduling, and general construction project requirements • Prior conceptual estimating experience or understanding • Expert in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents • Thorough knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc. • Exceptional organizational skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Good knowledge of subtrades • U.S. citizenship required to meet nuclear facility access and security clearance eligibility requirements • RICS accreditation or AACE certification is valuable but not required • Commercial nuclear or Federal work experience is a plus
