âą Provide nursing care from initial patient contact until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility âą Assess, triage, treat, and prioritize care for critically ill or injured patients during safe transport âą Maintain thorough patient care documentation and required training/licensure records âą Maintain competency through laboratory, clinical, and continuing education experiences âą Operate and routinely maintain medical equipment and supplies âą Report equipment failures and initiate repairs as directed âą Maintain adequate onboard aircraft supplies and keep aircraft clean and orderly âą Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and complete required documentation âą Assist with liftoff checklists and pilot support activities, including radio, navigation, and visual observation âą Comply with aviation and clinical safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings âą Support neonatal/pediatric personnel and perform approved advanced procedures âą Participate in patient and referring-institution follow-up, outreach marketing, and education âą Precept and orient new employees and students as assigned âą Participate in meetings, activities, projects, committees, research, and publishing opportunities âą Provide coverage at multiple Clinical Flight Teams and travel approximately 85%
âą Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing âą Minimum three (3) years recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last 5 years or as required by state/local EMS regulations âą One year of full-time flight experience required âą Current RN license(s) for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations âą Nurse compact license preferred âą EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations âą Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications as required âą TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider certification if required by state or county âą Specialty certification required: CFRN, CCRN, or CEN âą Advanced trauma certification: TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC, or CAMTS-approved advanced trauma course âą Current NRP certification âą NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat âą Nursing skills within assigned state scope of practice and advanced skills defined by Medical Director(s) âą Maximum weight of 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots âą Ability to work at least two 24-hour shifts per week at any CBS base where currently licensed âą Ability to work flexible schedules, 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotation âą Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook âą Strong critical thinking, reasoning, attention to detail, prioritization, and multitasking skills âą Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
