📋 Description

• Provide nursing care from initial patient contact until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility • Assess, triage, treat, and prioritize care for critically ill or injured patients during safe transport • Maintain thorough patient care documentation and required training/licensure records • Maintain competency through laboratory, clinical, and continuing education experiences • Operate and routinely maintain medical equipment and supplies • Report equipment failures and initiate repairs as directed • Maintain adequate onboard aircraft supplies and keep aircraft clean and orderly • Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and complete required documentation • Assist with liftoff checklists and pilot support activities, including radio, navigation, and visual observation • Comply with aviation and clinical safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings • Support neonatal/pediatric personnel and perform approved advanced procedures • Participate in patient and referring-institution follow-up, outreach marketing, and education • Precept and orient new employees and students as assigned • Participate in meetings, activities, projects, committees, research, and publishing opportunities • Provide coverage at multiple Clinical Flight Teams and travel approximately 85%

🎯 Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing • Minimum three (3) years recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last 5 years or as required by state/local EMS regulations • One year of full-time flight experience required • Current RN license(s) for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations • Nurse compact license preferred • EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations • Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications as required • TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider certification if required by state or county • Specialty certification required: CFRN, CCRN, or CEN • Advanced trauma certification: TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC, or CAMTS-approved advanced trauma course • Current NRP certification • NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat • Nursing skills within assigned state scope of practice and advanced skills defined by Medical Director(s) • Maximum weight of 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots • Ability to work at least two 24-hour shifts per week at any CBS base where currently licensed • Ability to work flexible schedules, 24-hour shifts, overtime, and on-call rotation • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Strong critical thinking, reasoning, attention to detail, prioritization, and multitasking skills • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
