📋 Description

• Direct and check the work of others • Participate in employee orientation and training • Coordinate workflow among employees within the work area • Provide technical and functional support to employees • Inform management about department operational needs • Provide patient care support and assist providers as instructed • Report acute problems and changes in patient condition • Instruct patients on test/procedure preparation, over-the-counter medication administration and treatment • Provide preventative and other health information per provider or RN • Coordinate test and procedure results with providers • Assist with patient appointment scheduling • Prepare refill information for provider review • Obtain lab/imaging results and notify providers of abnormalities • Respond to provider messages and results in the electronic medical records inbox • Perform injections using proper techniques when needed • Cover the front desk and provide backup to patient registration • Assist with patient transportation • Room patients, manage patient flow and obtain patient medical information/data • Perform rooming and vital signs according to standards • Collect, label and process specimens • Confirm patient information and document according to practice requirements • Keep patients informed of provider schedules and notify providers when patients are ready • Clean, restock and maintain exam room and supply room inventories • Order medical and nutritional supplies • Sterilize and maintain exam room equipment • Promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees • Report environmental risks or equipment malfunctions to the Supervisor • Use equipment according to policies, procedures and manufacturer directions • Follow policies and procedures when administering medication • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age • Must have education and/or experience meeting required functional competencies • Must have completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training • 7+ years of Medical Assistant experience • Must meet at least one BLS requirement: current BLS certification from the American Heart Association; current BLS certification from the American Red Cross; or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire • Non-certified applicants with less than six months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship • Candidate may be either a Medical Assistant or an LPN • Preferred: high school diploma or GED • Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants • Must be able to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently • Must live within one hour of Apple Valley, Minnesota • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; Allina Health uses E-Verify
