• Process and integrate customer data to assist movement of goods between international borders • Serve as customer service liaison between the company and customers • Resolve billing, shipment tracking, and other customer concerns • Build customer relationships • Process Customs and PGA entries for clearance of goods into the United States • Open files and enter notes, information, and document requests in corporate systems • Review commercial invoices and documentation for compliance with government and carrier regulations • Send information and document requests to employees, suppliers, service providers, and U.S. government agencies • Communicate with offices, departments, and teams regarding customs brokerage issues • Ensure compliance with U.S. government regulatory agencies, including FDA, EPA, and USFWS • Coordinate shipping details with forwarders, steamship lines, airlines, and agents • Maintain communication with customers, carriers, and vendors • Coordinate shipments from airlines, ocean piers, and CFS facilities to customer destinations • Coordinate pickups and invoice files • Stay current on regulations, laws, guidelines, and Deringer requirements • Act as a resource to internal and external clients • Handle accounting processes accurately and promptly • Answer emails and telephone calls promptly and professionally • Handle confidential information • Provide colleague instruction and recommend process improvements • Perform other assigned duties
• High School Diploma/GED • Willing to work weekends, including at least one weekend day • Previous customs brokerage experience • Ability to work a second shift schedule of either 4:00PM–12:00AM or 12:00PM–8:00PM Eastern Standard Time • Customer service and problem-resolution skills • Ability to process Customs and PGA entries for clearance of goods into the United States • Experience with client submission requirements and clearance of specific commodities • Ability to review commercial invoices and regulatory documentation • Ability to convert and verify shipment weight, volume, and foreign currency • Knowledge of U.S. government regulatory agencies such as FDA, EPA, and USFWS • Ability to handle confidential information • Accuracy, thoroughness, analytical and multitasking abilities • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle large volumes of work
