📋 Description

• Own AI features end-to-end from problem statement to general availability, including initiative classification, narratives, work codes, daily themes, compliance, and vision extraction (Prism) • Move features through prototype, design partner, beta, and GA rollout tiers • Establish evaluation baselines and capacity plans for feature promotion • Build and defend golden datasets, north-star metrics, offline harnesses, and online monitoring • Lead the meaning layer of the semantic stack, including retrieval semantics and embedding quality • Develop the label flywheel supporting prompt optimization and golden sets • Co-design vector and knowledge-graph stores with the AI Platform team • Improve output quality through context assembly, prompt optimization, and per-customer/per-firm generation • Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and success measures • Engage with Laurel's product and users and contribute product opinions • Embed with an AI-focused product pod while collaborating with engineers across the company • Help build Laurel's AI Time platform, which automates work time capture and connects time data to business outcomes for professional services firms

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience • Track record of shipping ML/LLM-powered features to production and owning their quality • Deep knowledge of LLM application engineering, including prompting, structured outputs, retrieval/context assembly (RAG), and agentic workflows • Experience with evaluation, including golden datasets, offline harnesses, online monitoring, and north-star metrics • Experience with retrieval and embeddings, vector search, semantic retrieval quality, and data/label flywheels • Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills • Comfort with modern backend technologies, including Node.js/NestJS, MongoDB, and message queues • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or agentic coding • Proven ownership, initiative, and early action • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Customer mindset with ability to engage with customers and understand their needs • Visa sponsorship requests reviewed case-by-case • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the posting also states Laurel cannot support visa sponsorship
