• Design, develop, test, and oversee construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects • Perform overall design and analysis of safety- and non-safety-related structures for nuclear and commercial projects • Interface with mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams on structural designs and layouts • Apply regulatory guidance, codes, standards, industry best practices, and engineering judgment to ensure compliant designs • Perform advanced engineering calculations using traditional methods or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) • Conduct foundation analyses, structural frame analyses, and one-off FEA model analyses • Generate and review civil layout plans, foundation details, steelwork details, and architectural feature designs • Design containment, reactor buildings, and support systems using reinforced concrete, steel, and composite/advanced materials • Prepare and approve design documents and plant modifications • Coordinate with designers on document development under approved procedures and design requirements • Develop, manage, and implement engineering analyses, activities, and programs to identify and resolve equipment and system problems • Use design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures, codes, and site design and safety/licensing bases in design media • Work in multidisciplinary project teams and integrate designs across disciplines • Provide guidance to junior colleagues • Check and review design media for accuracy and compliance with company policies and client expectations • Manage assigned schedules and initiate corrective measures to overcome delays • Recommend equipment, concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify design, reduce costs, correct flaws, or meet changing requirements • Support installation and testing of site systems and components • Operate independently with minimal guidance • Perform other assigned duties
• Bachelor's degree required in Civil Engineering or related technical or engineering field • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience, including recent nuclear design project structural engineering experience • Experience in nuclear industry preferred • PE preferred • Master’s degree preferred • Effective written and verbal communication skills • In-depth knowledge and experience in civil design • In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics • Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision • Higher-level knowledge and application of fundamental principles and concepts related to civil and structural design • Familiarity with ASME, ACI, ASCE, and AISC industry standards and design codes • Experience conducting seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses, geotechnical and geophysical engineering • Experience in modular design development of SSCs • Experience working with designers and manufacturers to develop models and drawings • Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla, and Revit • Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered
