• Conducts on-site surveys of long-term care facilities for compliance with state and federal rules and regulations • Documents survey findings using automated and written survey processes • Reviews nursing care quality in nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities • Evaluates complex medical situations and prepares survey documents under strict deadlines • Plans and organizes surveys based on facility services, size, and compliance history • Gathers compliance data through interviews, observation, equipment and environment inspection, and records review • Compiles reports of findings and deficiencies with supporting evidence • Recommends adverse action when appropriate and notifies facilities of findings • Reviews and monitors Plans of Correction • Coordinates activities with appropriate agencies • Provides training and guidance to new surveyors • Remains current on federal and state long-term-care requirements • May serve as team lead worker • Performs other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse, two (2) years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse; or eight (8) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (HCP073) or position equivalent, two (2) years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, four (4) years of which as a supervisor and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse • Valid Georgia driver's license • Use of a car at work • Extensive statewide and overnight travel, up to 90% • Occasional weekend and after-hours work may be required • Successful completion of preparatory training and the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within the first 12 months of employment • Background history and reference check
