📋 Description

• Manage operations and staff across multiple Patient Access Services functional areas • Prioritize and coordinate patient flow to service delivery areas • Lead, coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to hospital-level supervisors • Serve as the primary resource and escalation point for complex patient access issues, staffing challenges, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and operational check-ins with hospital-level supervisors • Develop supervisors in staff management, performance documentation, conflict resolution, and process improvement • Establish team performance goals, monitor benchmarks, and promote accountability and continuous improvement • Develop and maintain an access management training program and regular in-service education • Investigate and resolve admissions and registration problems and complaints • Ensure controls over cash collections and proper payment handling • Manage staffing patterns and assign departmental activities • Manage internal and external customer relations and resolve escalated concerns • Coordinate departmental activities with other hospital departments • Ensure Charity Care is utilized according to 501R rules and regulations • Serve as liaison regarding hospital admission policies and procedures • Prepare and present weekly and monthly key performance indicator reports to senior management • Review performance data, identify trends, address deficiencies, and drive improvement • Develop knowledge of registration systems and optimize processing efficiency and timeliness • Establish and implement Patient Access Services goals and objectives • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights • Participate in new employee training and orientation, departmental meetings, committees, projects, and performance improvement activities • Achieve revenue objectives while minimizing bad debt losses caused by insufficient registration information

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of 4 years of management experience in Patient Access Services • Knowledge of hospital and physician access management processes • Leadership in the core values of the organization • Clear, effective communication skills • Mature approach to problem-solving for all types of issues • Skills in using mainframe and PCs • Knowledge of medical terminology • Detail orientation • Experience with total quality management concepts and tools • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) through NAHAM to be acquired within 1 year of employment • Ability to sit, walk, stand, use hands, reach, talk, and hear • Ability to lift or exert energy up to 25 pounds • Close vision, distance or clear vision at 20 ft. or more, and ability to observe an area moving up/down or left/right • Travel required
