📋 Description

• Manage patient records and assist healthcare teams in delivering genetic counseling services • Conduct initial patient interviews and collect detailed family histories • Document relevant clinical data and enter patient data accurately and timely into EHR systems • Coordinate and maintain patient files and test results • Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance • Assist genetic counselors during patient consultations • Provide relevant medical information and education during counseling sessions • Educate patients on genetic conditions, testing options, and potential outcomes under genetic counselor guidance • Provide emotional support to patients during counseling sessions as needed • Prepare educational materials related to genetic conditions and testing options • Respond to patient inquiries with basic information about genetic testing and results • Schedule follow-up appointments and communicate test results • Organize and maintain research projects • Recruit participants for clinical studies • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for research • Coordinate educational workshops or outreach programs • Collaborate with physicians, genetic counselors, and other healthcare providers • Liaise between the genetic counseling team and other departments • Maintain compliance with regulations, policies, and accreditation standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Biology, or a related field • Certification as a Genetic Counselor Assistant or relevant experience preferred • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in genetic counseling or a related field • Strong understanding of genetic terminology and basic genetic principles • Experience assisting in genetic counseling sessions • Experience handling patient information in compliance with privacy regulations • Solid understanding of genetics and genetic conditions • Ability to discuss genetic testing options and outcomes • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and compassionately • Strong organizational skills • Ability to manage complex patient data accurately • Compassionate and empathetic approach when interacting with patients • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare-related software tools • Strong understanding of privacy regulations, including HIPAA • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality • Frequently able to sit, stand, and use hand and finger dexterity • Occasional ability to lift office supplies or materials
