📋 Description

• Analyze and model complex reinsurance treaties, including proportional, non-proportional, and retrocessional treaties, using industry-standard catastrophe models. • Prepare, validate, and quality-assure exposure data for catastrophe model inputs. • Execute catastrophe models, interpret exceedance probability curves, average annual loss, and return periods, and identify key risk drivers. • Contribute risk assessments and insights to reinsurance portfolio management and underwriting. • Develop and analyze custom scenarios for specific events or exposure changes. • Participate in catastrophe model validation and enhancement, including parameterization and calibration. • Prepare reports summarizing model results and communicate findings to underwriters, management, and stakeholders. • Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and other departments on comprehensive risk assessments. • Research industry trends, modeling techniques, and emerging natural catastrophe risks. • Participate in projects shaping and defining the company's view of risk for natural catastrophe perils. • Support the reinsurance placement and renewal process and partner with the actuarial pricing team.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in catastrophe modeling, specifically within the reinsurance industry. • Proficiency in using at least one major catastrophe modeling platform (Verisk Touchstone, RMS RiskLink, CoreLogic RQE). • Strong understanding of reinsurance principles, treaty structures, and underwriting practices. • Solid understanding of statistical concepts, including probability distributions, return periods, and extreme value theory. • Experience with data manipulation and analysis using software such as SQL, R, or Python. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal). • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Experience with stochastic modeling tools such as MetaRisk or ReMetrica desired. • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA) is a plus. • Experience with database management is a plus.
