📋 Description

• Analyze and identify ways to improve effective energy consumption across the enterprise • Advise the company on energy matters when reviewing cost estimates, specifications, drawings, construction documents, building control systems, and maintenance repairs or modifications • Monitor store and corporate facility Energy Management Systems • Support energy team capital projects totaling over $20 million and a utility expense budget exceeding $100 million • Review and evaluate mechanical, HVAC, and controls drawings for new stores, downsizes, relocations, and capital projects • Partner with Construction, Store Design, Architects, and Engineers of Record throughout the design process • Provide engineering recommendations to optimize building performance, maintainability, lifecycle costs, and energy efficiency • Monitor, triage, and troubleshoot HVAC and controls-related issues across the store portfolio using EMS/BAS platforms and analytical software • Investigate abnormal system behavior and recurring operational issues, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions • Improve system performance, control strategies, consistency, and standardization across EMS/BAS platforms • Review load calculations, equipment submittals, HVAC system options, and retrofit strategies • Support RTU replacement programs by evaluating equipment selections, replacement strategies, right-sizing opportunities, and emerging technologies • Manage assigned capital projects end-to-end, including planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, execution, commissioning, and closeout • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to company engineering standards • Provide mechanical engineering expertise for Sustainability team capital projects • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and project partners on project execution and delivery

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, energy engineering or related field plus a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering field, or Master’s degree • PMP, CEM or PE preferred but not required • Extensive understanding of commercial HVAC systems, building controls, and mechanical building systems, including RTUs, boilers, chillers, and BAS/EMS • Functional understanding of electrical building systems as they relate to HVAC equipment and controls • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, or commercial building systems • Experience with HVAC equipment selection, building system optimization, and capital improvement projects preferred • Familiarity with utility efficiency programs, rebates, and incentive opportunities desirable • Knowledge of commercial building automation, control systems applications and sequencing, and energy management systems • Knowledge of remote multi-site project management principles, practices and techniques • Strong knowledge of BACnet, Tridium Niagara, and Microsoft Suite • Vendor, contract and budget management skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to independently manage multiple projects to timely completion • Demonstrated problem-solving and engineering analysis capabilities • Strong data analytical and quantitative capabilities, including proficiency in Excel • Proficiency in analytic and/or Fault Detection & Diagnosis (FDD) software
