📋 Description

• Own Cardiff's engineering department, including in-house engineers, contractors, offshore Salesforce developers, and vendor relationships • Report to the Managing Partner and serve on the leadership team • Set delivery cadence and provide direct status reporting to the business • Lead planning, prioritization, reviews, unblocking, hiring, onboarding, one-on-ones, performance, and team growth • Build and ship production software, with an expected 60% leadership and 40% hands-on building split • Own the Salesforce/Fundingo core, Cardiff API, Snowflake, cloud infrastructure, and migration from legacy systems • Design and operate production AI agent systems with orchestration loops, tool use, graph retrieval, evaluations, and human checkpoints • Own customer-facing and internal AI agents • Build and maintain the knowledge graph and data pipelines • Evaluate and manage vendors, integrations, and vendor performance • Maintain uptime, data integrity, access control, security, and incident response • Review code and architecture and ensure AI-generated code is correct before deployment • Manage offshore and contract developers to the same standards as in-house staff • Build with Salesforce, Snowflake, Gmail, Zoom, Slack, Twilio, and internal tools • Make AI tooling the default engineering workflow • Ship working versions quickly and improve them iteratively • Own production incidents and post-incident write-ups

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building production software • 3+ years managing engineers directly • Experience running a team of 4 or more • Track record of hitting delivery dates and ability to explain missed dates and corrective action • Written and shipped production code within the last year • Ability to review pull requests and identify problems • Production experience with agent systems, including orchestration loops, graphs, multi-step tool use, multi-agent patterns, RAG over real data, and evaluations • Coding agents as a primary development method, such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar • Recent example of delivering something 3–5x faster using coding agents • Proficiency with Python, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL, and cloud deployment • AWS preferred • Fluent in the open-source AI ecosystem and able to make build-versus-adopt decisions • Strong written communication and early escalation discipline
