📋 Description

• Perform inpatient chart reviews to determine appropriate DRG assignment • Ensure documentation supports clinical care, severity of illness, and risk of mortality • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, and Health Information Management coders • Identify and record principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures • Assign working DRGs and conduct second-level reviews of selected DRGs and inpatient encounters • Clarify medical-record documentation through provider and staff communication • Document findings and encounter status in Carle CDI software • Follow query processes and escalate as needed • Educate peers and providers on CDI topics • Review DRG denials and develop appeal letters • Attend mandatory and regular education sessions • Follow workflows in EPIC and CDI software and report issues to the one-up leader • Participate in testing software upgrades as needed

🎯 Requirements

• 2 years of working Clinical Documentation experience • 2 years of Nursing experience • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification from AHIMA • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Illinois • Associate's Degree in a related field • Clinical bedside work experience • CDI work experience • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with occasional weekends
